Driven by passion and determination, Shais built HouseCuts to address the common challenge of finding affordable and convenient haircuts. His startup offers a clean and professional haircut experience right at your doorstep, ensuring hygiene and ease for balancing the busy schedules.
Seeing Bravery in the Mirror: The Journey of HouseCuts
The journey of Shais Raza is truly inspiring. It first started in June 2020, right out of Covid. Shais is pursuing Masters and would love to explore and build a service which led him to be part of this HouseCuts.
He felt lot of people were uncomfortable in doing hair cuts and they did not feel safe about their hair cuts. It is very difficult to go and so he thought of a service which offers haircuts directly to people and that is the lighting part of the story.
The journey has been so long for 4 years and they are operating in Greater Boston Area. They have completed around 5000 haircuts till date.
A Guiding Light: The Mentor Who Helped Him Find His Way
When he began this startup journey, He has got a plan to go to mentor and ask for help to guide and mentor to finish what he started. The mentor helped him with the development resources which made him to keep the website live. He also helped him to provide a unique pricing model, which helped to attract more students as well.
As the target audience, he advised international students who could not afford cars and rides, which attracted Housecuts and provide services to them and they serviced various campuses, boarding schools in Boston.
From Noticing to Solving: The Story Behind Identifying the Need
There is no doubt, short period of trends that happened, the trend gave the traction for the idea to seem realistic, be realistic. Once they captured certain amount of people, they ended it being it to be convenient, so after covid about safety more than convenience.
Delivering this service aligns well with market needs. Your value proposition evolves over time, allowing for pivots as needed, and growth ultimately hinges on your scalability. He is focusing on expanding further in Boston, connecting with investors, and gaining valuable insights into refining his business and boosting revenue. This led him to enter the beauty industry.
Navigating the Product Storm: Building Lowprod
He realized he wanted to create these products from the ground up, but relying on developers was costly and time-consuming. Using AI, he started building the products himself, which is now where much of his time is focused.
Shais also added, “This procedure allows him to bring products to market more quickly. He is currently learning Full Stack Development and AI prompting.”

Shais highlighted, You need to have a passion for building things, collaborating with others, and continuously improving your creations. Focus on solving problems with data, build solutions around those problems, and gather feedback from various people to enhance the product.
In essence, these skills can lead you to become a product manager. People come from various backgrounds, and being an engineer is a strong foundation. Having both technical expertise and a business mindset is valuable for transitioning into a product management role.
His science background gave him the foundation to understand the engineering side, combining science, business.
The Future of Healthcare: Data-Driven Solutions to Address Provider Shortages
The bottlenecks in the number of medical positions produced each year stem from expanding medical schools and residency placement programs. From a data perspective, it’s crucial to understand why only a limited number of doctors are being trained.
The question arises: do we need to open more medical schools, specifically focused on areas with a lack of physicians?

It all comes down to your level of motivation, especially intrinsic motivation, where your drive is to become the best version of yourself. You can read more and shape your mindset to think in this way.
From his perspective, focus on accomplishing one thing at a time. Once you’ve mastered it, after a couple of years, take on something new and get into the rhythm of it quickly. Stay motivated to achieve the new goal as efficiently as possible.

According to Shais, “It really depends on the school you attended and the company you work for, as they play a significant role in attracting capital. For first-time founders, investors typically conduct thorough background checks unless you’ve built an exceptionally great product.“
Securing investment requires a lot of credibility. Ultimately, it’s all about your idea, your persistence, and the trust you build, then you’ll be in a position to raise money.
Advice to Entrepreneurs: Build Simple
“Next time you’re building a product, aim to create something so simple and intuitive that you could hand it to someone on a piece of paper, and they would immediately understand how to use it. If it’s not that easy, then it risks becoming messy, and people generally shy away from complexity. Keep things streamlined, user-friendly, and straightforward.”
